Bubba

I found out that my grandmother who everyone knew as "Bubba" died today. Bubba has been fighting Alzheimer's for awhile now and hasn't been with us for a long time. I wrote awhile back about all of things she used to do. I mainly remember that she would wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning and start cooking breakfast. Biscuits and bacon and melted cheese in a skillet to go on top. She was one of the kindest sweetest women I knew.

I will think about her often. I will never forget lighting her yard on fire after shooting fireworks that she had given me. Or sitting around and having a "drink drink" with her, or watching her put on her satin night cap before bed so she wouldn't mess up her head and of course when she came to our house she always brought her satin pillow for the same reason.

I hate that I will not be able to be in the States for the funeral. I was able to tell her goodbye before I left to come back to Korea. It was a blessing to hear that she had passed, but I am still well I don't know what to say. A mix of emotions! Happy and Sad all at the same time. I love her and will miss her.

I'm sorry about your grandmother. I also had a grandparent with Alzheimers disease and know how difficult it can be.

I love the things you remember-- You painted a really lovely portrait.
