Working For The Weekend

I don't like to write too much about work, but damn have I been stressed. Our main two English speaking Korean staff members left and we just got a new foreign teacher and a new Korean staff member. I have been pulled in about a million directions this week and can't wait for Saturday to be here. I am still trying to decide where I am going to take photos this weekend. It looks like the weather will be crappy, so I will probably end up staying in Dongtan and working on the light box.

This week the exchange rate has pretty much been crap and I wish that this was the highest that it is going to get, but I think we are going to see a much higher rate!

So, if you add those two together. I am working 20% harder for 40% less money. I imagine that Jaeyoun and I will be leaving most of our savings in Korea.

Dude, you can't let the exchange rate get you down. It will bounce back, it will recover. Hang in for the long hall.

I remember the 1997-98 economic crisis and the same thing happened. I was freaked. But rule #1: stop calculating your salary in dollars.

You live in Korea, so probably most of what you spend is in Korea. Your housing is covered just the same. It's actually only a fraction (i.e., less than half) that you're saving and taking or sending back, right? And if it's savings, you can wait until the rate is better and do it then.

It probably can't get much worse. There are forces that would prevent that, notably that Korean exports would be so cheap that it would bring the rate back in line as FX comes back in.

Chin up!

Thanks for the comments guys! You are right about waiting to send money. I hope that the rate falls in to place to sooner rather than later though!
