New Year's Day

새해 복 많이 받으세요! Happy New Year! We traveled to Jaeyoun's oldest sister's house I wish that I could have taken more pictures, but my batteries ran out last night right after these shots. We made it to her house in Seoul around 9pm where we were treated to a great L.A. galbi dinner. I think this was for my benefit. Her family is always worried that I won't be able to eat what they serve. Jaeyoun has told them countless times that I can eat all Korean food and they just dismiss this as not true!

We woke up this morning and had Dduk Gook (떡국) for breakfast. I guess my Korean age is officially one year older now. We stopped in Kangnam for a bit this afternoon and had an uncrowded street to our selves.

We slept in Jaeyoun's sister's bed and it was probably the worst night of sleep I have ever gotten. I felt like one of those hot dogs you see on the grill at 7-11 back home. She had an electric pad on her bed. He heated the whole bed and by the time I fell asleep I had looked in vain for the plug or switch for over an hour. I kept rotating just like those hot dogs to keep the skin one side of my body from sliding off. I swear I feel like I am sunburned. I have experienced this before while sleeping on Korean heated floors, but I have always just added another blanket. I will spend today trying to regain the moisture that was lost last night from all the sweat!
